Following my maternity leave Homespuncards is now back up and running, just in time for Father’s Day!
There are some old favourites that are available to buy now but some new designs are coming soon.

This card was created for a male recipient’s 50th birthday. In the brief I was asked to include a set of Bongo drums as they play a significant part in his life. However my client then asked if I could swap the Bongo drums for a Djembe drum as that was going to be her present for her partner. I decided to include both drums as I felt it worked well within the design, for it represents the new chapter in his life.
Along with the drums I was asked to include a Scorpion into the design to represent the recipient’s star sign, as he identifies strongly with this. The final request was to make the card look more celebratory by adding some balloons and red hearts. The challenge was to do this without making the card look like it was for a female recipient.
The text printed on the card was provided by the client for a more personal meaning.
I have used various materials and artistic methods to create this card and all aspect of this design have been produced by hand.
To make this engagement card I have used various materials and methods in order to add texture to this design.
Materials used: Various card stock, paper doilies, Dove die cut and printed ribbon.
I have embossed the backing card myself using a Cricut Cuttlebug embossing and die cutting machine. This was also used to make the central heart.
I chose black & white as the main and only colours for this card as I wanted that clean classic engagement/wedding card look. I also felt that with all the textured used too many colours would be distracting.

I made this card for my little sister’s birthday. The image used is actually from a photograph taken of her at a music festival. It happens to be one of my favourite photos of my sister (not forgetting the random gentleman dressed up as devils!) When I first saw this photo I felt it would be great to use for a greeting card and I finally had the chance to make it real.
Although I have used a photograph in this instance, instead of coming up with an original theme as I usually do, neither the less a lot of time and skill has gone into the making of this card. The image above is not the original photograph but a painting. I have combined water colours and acrylic paints to create different textures to recreate the original image, bringing it back to life and hopefully putting a smile on my little sister’s face.
